Campsites in Grand Canyon can vary quite a bit depending on the topography of various areas within the canyon. Some campsites will be big sandy beaches and some will be small and rocky. Some will have flat areas right next to the water and some will have a large hill to get from the boats to the flat camping area. One way or another, there will be a lot of sand!
