Russell Kramer
I am the California born son of international whitewater rafters. My father guided in the Canyon in the early ‘70s as well as with the pioneering company SOBEK in the mid-‘70s to early ‘80s. He has rafted first expeditions all over the world. I have been on rivers for as long as I can remember and cherish every day I spend sleeping under their stars and next to their life giving currents. Perhaps what attracts me to the Grand Canyon is the immense power this river has to transform an otherwise “barren” landscape into a lush riparian area and quench my insatiable thirst for adventure and grandeur. I have guided in Ecuador, Turkey, Georgia (the country), California, Arizona, and will soon be going on an exploratory trip in Panama. The Canyon however holds a special place in my heart. It has the ability to make me feel large and small at the same time; large in spirit and small in physicality. Every time I go down the Canyon I am turning another page of an immense volume with uncountable chapters to be explored! I’m sure you will take away some of the very same experiences on your Grand Canyon Trip! No matter who you are, you will be changed in some way by the Grand Canyon.
