Susan Hamilton

Susan guided horse pack trips in southern Colorado for fifteen years before she traded her horse for a boat in the Grand Canyon in 1999. When she is off the river she works as an ICU nurse in a Trauma 1 Hospital and as an editorial/stock photographer in the Southwest. As a past President of Grand Canyon Youth she has helped to raise money and awareness to get youth to experience hands-on learning while going down stream. She now sits on the board of the Whale Foundation which helps Grand Canyon River Guides with education, health needs, and mental wellbeing. The Canyon has been Susan’s second home since 1998 where she loves to share the beauty, surprises and laughter that the Canyon brings to people’s lives who choose to explore it.

“Wonderful!  Susan was a joyful leader whose enthusiasm was contagious and made camp and hikes exciting and fun, even when difficult.” – R.G. Sept 12, 2012
