Laura was born and raised in Tucson, AZ and currently splits her time between Tucson and Flagstaff. She started working for CanX in 2005 as the food manager but quickly got the “bug” for the Grand Canyon and switched to river guiding full time in 2011.
Laura has a degree from The University of Colorado at Boulder in Environmental Population and Organismic Biology and a Culinary Arts Degree from Johnson and Wales University in Denver. When not working in the Canyon Laura is the owner and operator of a Professional Chef business. She feels extremely lucky to balance two careers that fulfill her passions.
Laura has a love of the outdoors and when not working she tries to spend as much time in wilderness as possible. It’s important to her to share the Canyon’s beauty and ecological wonders with others, to inspire its continued protection and that of other beautiful places around the world.
