Peg Bartlett

Peg began guiding in 1978 in Colorado, Utah, Idaho, and Costa Rica before coming to Grand Canyon in 1983. She has been with Canyon Explorations/

Expeditions since 1987. Grand Canyon is a place she cannot live without, and has worked to continue guiding since adopting a child from Ecuador in 2000.

Her big interpretive interest in the Canyon is presenting a Walk through Time, where participants “walk out” the last 5 billion years, each step representing 50,000,000 years.  Learning and expressing the highlights of what brought us on this planet to where we are today is a true interest and a constantly evolving study.

Outside of Grand Canyon, she recently returned from a sabbatical year in Ecuador and Peru doing literacy and arts volunteer work, as well as teaching English.  Teaching English is her new love, and she is currently pursuing her TESOL certificate to teach English in South America in the future.  Until then, she works in the outdoor focused charter school she founded with her husband called Roots & Wings Community School in Taos, New Mexico, AND LIVES IN A YURT.
